Edit or move objects on the web map

Correct Sketch Lines on the Cloneable web Utility Map with Edit vertices, archive objects, and let fielders sync the change.

Use the web map when a line needs a bend corrected, or an object should leave the map. Changes you save here become what fielders see after they sync.

Open the map and select an object

  1. In the sidebar, open the Data section.

  2. Choose Utility Map.

  3. Select the job, then select the object on the map.

The object panel has three tabs: Data, Photos, and History.

The Photos tab can say there are no photos even when a picture sits on a Data field. Open Data to see field photos. For a measured pole, use Measure Utility Pole on the Data tab.


Move a photo to a different section

A photo captured into the wrong slot can be dragged into the right one, without asking a fielder to take it again. On the Data tab, drag the photo onto another photo section. The cursor changes to a grab hand on any photo that can be moved, and hovering one shows Drag onto another photo section to move it.

Nothing is re-uploaded. It stays the same file, so anything already attached to it, such as measurements taken on that photo, moves with it. Both halves of the move are recorded as a single entry in History.

Three rules decide where a photo will land, and they explain every case where a drop is refused:

  • A section that holds many photos accepts the drop and adds it to the end. A section that holds one photo only accepts a drop while it is empty, so swap by moving the occupant out first.

  • A read-only section will neither give a photo up nor take one.

  • If no other section could accept it, the photo will not lift at all. A photo that refuses to drag is telling you there is nowhere valid to put it, not that dragging is broken.

If you cannot see the map in the menu, your role may not include it. Ask whoever manages your organization rather than assuming something is broken.


Edit a Sketch Line

Draw polyline on the map toolbar creates a Sketch Line. That is not a Span.

  1. Select the Sketch Line on the map.

  2. On the Data tab, read Geometry (vertex count, anchored count, and length).

  3. Choose Edit vertices.

Cloneable then opens a panel titled Edit polyline. The hint on that panel is:

On screen: "Drag a vertex to move it. Click a segment midpoint to insert. Select a vertex and press Delete to remove it. Press Enter to save, Esc to cancel."

The panel also offers:

  • Save, which stays disabled until you change a vertex.

  • Undo, for the last vertex change while you are still editing.

  • Cancel, or press Esc, to leave without saving.

A line needs at least two vertices before Save will enable. Finish with Save (or Enter) before you select another object.


Archive a pole or Sketch Line

The overflow menu on a selected pole or Sketch Line shows Created, Modified, and Archive. There is no button labeled Move on that menu.

If you can change a pole's location from the web, look next to Location on the Data tab. Do not hunt the overflow menu for a Move label.

Confirm when Cloneable asks you to archive, so you do not remove the wrong object. Archiving is reversible from the object later.


Place a new object (different task)

To add something that is not on the map yet, use the add toolbar: Add Pole, Add Span, Draw polyline, Add Reference, Add Crossing, Add Building Attachment, Add Proposed Pole, and Add Map Note. Your configuration may hide some of those.

Placing a new object is not the same as editing one that already exists.


When fielders see the change

A save on the web map updates the account. Fielders do not see the new geometry until UtilityScout syncs. Ask them to open the app and wait until the status says the job is synced.

Editing on the web does not replace measuring a pole in the field. If the pole still needs a fresh measurement, that is a separate step. See Re-measure a pole from the web.
