Assembling the stick
The stick ships in a bag with four two-foot yellow sections, two targets that sit between them, a screw-on top piece, and a spacer that keeps the stick from bending over time. The stand comes in its own separate bag.
In the default configuration you use three of the four sections:
Start at the bottom. Attach one section, with a target on top of it. Make sure the target's label faces up, not upside down.
Screw a second section on top of that, then a third section on top of the second.
Attach the top section, again with its label facing up.
Press the two surfaces together so they sit straight, then add the screw that holds everything together.
Clip the spacer onto the back of the stick, facing the pole. It acts as a brace and keeps the stick from bending as you press it against the pole.
To attach the stand, tighten it onto the stick with the two legs facing the same direction as the targets. A clamp on the stand fits onto the pole. Once you tighten it, the stick is ready to use.
NOTE: if you are using the extra bottom stick section, make sure that you update your user settings under "Bottom Pole Length"

Placing the stick on a pole
Before you start a measurement, check the stick is set up correctly against the pole:
The bottom of the stick should touch the ground.
Both targets should sit close to or touching the pole itself.
Kick the legs out, then pull them back and press the two quick-release buttons to lock everything in place.
Both targets need to be close to or touching the pole. If one target sits away from the pole while the other sits against it, the app reads a different tilt than the pole actually has, and that is a real source of measurement error, not just a tidiness issue.
If risers keep a target from sitting flush against the pole, do not capture tilt as normal. Skip tilt and place the stick targets manually instead. See Measure a pole for that workaround.

Matching the stick to your Settings
Target Settings:
The app also needs to know which target version is mounted on your stick. Open Settings, look under the Component Settings heading for Pole measurement settings, then tap Select Your Accuracy Stick, before your first job with a stick.
Version 1 (Original design) and Version 2 (Updated design) are two picker cards at the top of the screen. These describe the plastic target bracket mounted on the stick, not the fiberglass stick itself, which is the same across both kits. Tap the one that matches your targets. The app uses this to calculate measurements correctly, so pick the wrong version and your measurements will be off even if the stick itself is assembled and placed correctly. Most organizations onboarded after February 2026 are on Version 2, since Cloneable no longer makes Version 1. If you are not sure which you have, check the bracket rather than assuming.
Tilt Zeroing for Standard Collection Mode:
Tilt Zeroing is below the version picker. The screen explains it directly: "Hold your phone against a vertical wall to calibrate the tilt for standard accuracy mode." Two readouts sit above the buttons: Current Zero Value and Current Tilt.
Reset Zero clears the calibration back to 0.00° immediately.
Calibrate Now starts a live countdown on the same button ("Calibrating in 3..."). Hold your phone flat against a vertical wall while it counts down. When it finishes, Current Zero Value updates to the value it just captured, and the button reads Calibrate Now again.
Use Tilt Zeroing only for standard measurement. High accuracy does not use this value.
Skip Calibrate Now if your job requires high accuracy.
If tilt on a standard measurement looks off, use Calibrate Now here.
Do this once. Hold the phone flat against a vertical wall. The value saves until you change the phone case or the phone.
Extra Stick Attachment:
Bottom Pole Length is below Tilt Zeroing, with two buttons: 1 and 2. Set this to match how you assembled the stick. If it does not match, the app calculates the wrong distance from the bottom of the stick to the first target, which throws off the measurement even though the physical stick and its placement are correct. Leaving it at 1 while the fourth section is attached drops the calculated pole base about two feet below the true ground line.
The extra stick is typically used when there's vegetation near the base of the pole and it blocks the bottom target. Adding this fourth attachment raises the stick and makes it taller in order to still be able to capture the targets. If this is still not enough height, please review the two known heights workflow.
