Use this module only when the job will leave coverage. You have to prepare offline work while the phone can still load the job and map.

Before this becomes a crew procedure, the crew lead should verify the complete offline flow on the actual job and device.

Maps stream in as you move around, which needs a connection. Where you will not have one, download the area you are working first.

Do this at the yard, on wifi, the night before or that morning. If you try to download a map area at the edge of coverage, it will not work.

Check the status pill says Synced (green) before you head into the dead zone, not just at the end of the day. Anything still Syncing or Paused when you lose signal stays that way until you are back in range.

Capturing does. You can place objects, fill in details and take photos offline. The app holds it on your phone until there is a connection to send it over.

What does not work is anything that needs to fetch something new: a map area you did not download, or a job you had not loaded before you left.

Measuring works offline too, with one condition on a phone that has never measured before.

The app fetches part of what it needs for measuring the first time it is used, then keeps it. Until it has done that once, that piece needs a connection. A phone straight out of the box, taken to a dead zone, may not have it.

On a new phone or fresh install, use an organization-approved test procedure to confirm measurement is ready while you still have signal. Do not discover the missing first download at a live pole in a dead zone.

The app sends what it holds as soon as it can, unless syncing is paused. Pausing survives closing and reopening the app, and coming back into coverage does not turn it back on by itself.

Check the status before you finish for the day. If it says Paused, turn syncing back on, then wait for Synced. See Check that your work is syncing.

After an offline day, open UtilityScout once you have a connection. The phone cannot finish large photo uploads in the background. If the lock screen shows Files Waiting to Sync, that is this same reminder. See Check that your work is syncing.

Downloaded areas take up space and you will want to clear old ones. Removing a download may happen immediately without asking you to confirm, so read what you remove before you tap.

If you clear an area you still need and you are somewhere with no signal, you cannot get it back until you have a connection.

Synced (green) before you go, download before, check synced after. Everything in between takes care of itself.
