Archive a job, and bring it back

Move a finished job off your working list without losing anything; restoring it is one click away.

Written by Ryan Miller

When you are finished with a job, archiving takes it out of your working list without losing anything.

Archiving is not deleting

Cloneable does not throw anything away. An archived job comes off your main list, and you can bring it back.

Treat it as filing rather than as removal.

Who can archive

Only organization administrators. If you are not one, the control is still there but it will not do anything, and Cloneable says why:

On screen: "Only organization admins can archive jobs."

That is a helpful way for it to behave, because you can see the option exists and know it is not for you rather than hunting for something the app never showed you.

Archiving one

Open the job's details and choose to archive it. Cloneable will ask you to confirm before it happens.

Finding your archived jobs

Archived jobs live on their own list, reached from the historical section of your dashboard. Cloneable only shows that entry to organization administrators, so if you cannot see it, ask one.

The list gives you each job's name, its status, when it was archived and by whom, and when it was last updated. You can search it, and you can sort it by name, status, when it was archived, and when it was last updated.

The status names change here

The archived list uses different wording for two of the four statuses. A job you had as Draft appears here as Pending.

This catches people filtering for something they cannot find. See Find and manage your jobs.

Bringing one back

Choose to restore it.

There is no confirmation step. Unlike archiving, restoring happens the moment you choose it, so read the name of the job before you press it rather than after.

The job then disappears from the archived list, which is correct and is what you wanted. It has gone back to your main jobs list. Nothing has gone wrong.

Cloneable confirms it worked, and tells you plainly if it did not.

If you cannot find an archived job

Two things to check before treating it as lost:

  1. The status filter, remembering the different wording described above.

  2. Whether it was archived at all. A job that was never archived is still on your main list. See Find and manage your jobs.

If it is on neither list, tell us the job's name and roughly when you last saw it.
