Use this when generating a PDF report, KMZ, GeoJSON, or CSV ZIP hangs, fails, never downloads, or looks incomplete after choosing a deliverable on Utility Map. Confirm the job has the poles and photos you need, make sure field files are fully synced before generating deliverables that include photos, and keep the progress dialog open until the download finishes.
Note: Treat Files Still Syncing as a hard stop even if the interface still lets you click through. Do not continue until field sync is clear.
Clear sync and generate the deliverable
Ask fielders to open UtilityScout on a stable connection. In Settings → Sync Status, wait until pending uploads clear. Use Force File Sync if needed.
Choose the deliverable you need: Generate PDF Report, Export to KMZ, Export to GeoJSON, or Export to CSV (ZIP).
In the configure dialog, select at least one data type (PDF), set a document name (KMZ), or check the types to include (CSV). Disabled export buttons usually mean a required option is empty.
Start the export and leave the progress dialog open through Preparing / Generating / Finalizing (wording varies by format). Do not close the tab mid-run.
When status shows success, confirm the file downloaded. If your browser blocked it, allow the download and try once more with sync still clear.
If the run shows Export Failed or Export Issue, read the message, fix the options, and retry once. If it fails again with sync clear, stop and escalate.
A GeoJSON export can report success and still be short. If the toast reads GeoJSON exported with N omissions, objects with no resolvable geometry were left out on purpose, and the count in that message is how many. Check those objects have a location before you treat the file as complete.
If something goes wrong
Download never appears though the dialog said success → note browser, attach a screenshot of the success state, and escalate.
Include the Utility Map job link, which format you chose (PDF / KMZ / GeoJSON / CSV), a screenshot of progress or error, and what you already tried. See What to send.
Important: Generate stays stuck or fails after sync is clear and one careful retry → Create a ticket.
Next: generate a PDF, KMZ, or CSV deliverable. See Export your data.
