How this help center is organized

Every article opens with an Applies to line, like the green one at the top of this article. Articles marked All customers apply to everyone; others are for the Katapult or the non-Katapult path only. When an article does not apply to you, skip it.

Most of this help center is organized as a guided path: pick your role below and read the articles it points you to, in order. But if you already know what you are looking for, or want to look something up rather than follow a path, Help & reference has a searchable glossary, a printable field cheat sheet, and an appendix of tables (roles, job statuses, and more) that other articles link back to. Keep it in mind any time you want an answer rather than a lesson.

What Cloneable is

Cloneable has two surfaces. Know which does what, because it explains why some fixes need a return trip to the field and some do not.

  • UtilityScout is the iPhone app your field crews use to collect data: measuring poles and midspans, capturing photos, adding attachments. On the App Store it is listed as Cloneable UtilityScout (by Cloneable, Inc.); install it from the App Store.

  • The Cloneable web portal, at app.cloneable.ai, is where administration and review happen: connecting Katapult, building configurations, adding users, reviewing and exporting data, and viewing analytics.

Reviewing photos and editing text fields work in both places; capturing photos and on-pole measurement are app-only; importing, exporting, connecting Katapult, and most administration are portal-only.

Every person you invite gets one of five roles, from most to least access: Org Admin, Team Admin, Analyst/Fielder, Analyst (Read-only), and Basic User. The full breakdown of what each can do is in the roles and permissions appendix; access comes from your administrator, so if you are not sure what role you have, ask them.

How you sign in

You never sign in with a password. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your work email (there is a Resend option if it does not arrive), or, on the Cloneable web portal, with your company single sign-on if your organization has one set up (see Adding users, teams, and SSO). A session lasts about two weeks before you are asked to sign in again.

If your account belongs to more than one Cloneable organization, you will see a list of your organizations to pick from when you sign in; if you belong to only one, this step is skipped. A "Join" badge next to an organization means you have a pending invitation there.

What is your role?

Pick the one that best describes your day-to-day work. If more than one applies, pick the one you spend the most time doing; each path links out to the others where it matters.

Fielder. You use the UtilityScout app on a phone or tablet to measure poles and capture data on site.

Setup Admin / Implementer. You are configuring your organization's Cloneable account for the first time: connecting Katapult (or not) and building your configuration.

Admin. Your organization is already set up, and you handle ongoing administration: adding people, watching analytics.

None of these, or you would rather browse. See everything this help center covers without being routed.

How to tell which articles apply

Every article begins with an Applies to line. Articles marked All customers apply to everyone; others are for the Katapult or the non-Katapult path. When in doubt, follow the path above and use the labels to confirm.
