Sometimes field conditions or equipment availability require using alternative measuring tools like Hastings sticks or laser rangefinders. This guide explains how to manually input attachment heights while still utilizing the app's standard workflows.
When to Use Manual Height Entry
Manual height entry is ideal when:
The high accuracy stick is unavailable or impractical to use
You're using alternative measuring equipment (Hastings stick, laser rangefinder, etc.)
Working with existing height data from previous surveys
Environmental conditions prevent standard measurement methods
Steps to Set Manual Attachment Heights
Step 1: Select the Attachment
Tap on any attachment on the pole to select it. The attachment will be highlighted, indicating it's ready for editing.
Tip: If attachments are clustered close together, zoom in for easier selection.
Step 2: Access Manual Height Setting
With the attachment selected:
Look for the Set Manual Height button in your toolbar or menu
Tap the button to open the height entry dialog
Step 3: Enter the Height Value
In the height entry dialog:
Type in your measured height value
Ensure you're using the correct units (feet/meters) as configured in your settings
Double-check the entered value for accuracy
Important: Enter heights as measured from ground level to the attachment point, following standard utility measurement practices.
Step 4: Save the Height
Tap the Save button to confirm your entry
The dialog will close automatically
The attachment now has a fixed manual height assigned
How Manual Heights Work
What Changes:
✅ The attachment height is locked to your entered value
✅ Height data is saved with the attachment
✅ The value persists through all app sessions
What Stays the Same:
✅ You can still reposition the attachment visually on the pole
✅ All other attachment properties remain editable
✅ Standard app workflows continue normally
