Sometimes standard attachment types don't cover all the equipment you encounter in the field. This guide explains how to create custom attachment names and save them for future use.
Why Use Custom Attachments?
Custom attachment names help you:
Document specialized or proprietary equipment
Use company-specific naming conventions
Create detailed inventory records
Maintain consistency across field crews
Steps to Create a Custom Attachment
Step 1: Select an Attachment
Tap on any attachment on the pole to select it. The attachment will be highlighted, indicating it's ready for customization.
Tip: You can create custom names for new attachments or rename existing ones.
Step 2: Access Custom Attachment Options
With the attachment selected:
Look for the Create Custom Attachment button in your toolbar or menu
Tap the button to open the custom naming interface
Step 3: Enter Your Custom Name
In the custom attachment dialog:
Type your desired attachment name in the text field
Be specific and descriptive (e.g., "Verizon 5G Small Cell" instead of just "Antenna")
Consider using consistent naming patterns for similar equipment
Step 4: Save for Future Use (Optional)
To reuse this custom name on future attachments:
Check the Save for future use option
This adds your custom name to your attachment type library
Saved names will appear in your attachment selection list going forward
β οΈ Important: Custom attachment names are saved only to your current device. Team members will NOT see your saved custom types on their phones.
Step 5: Apply the Custom Name
Tap Save or Apply to confirm
The attachment now displays your custom name
If saved, the name is available for future attachments on this device only
Using Saved Custom Attachments
Once you've saved custom attachment types:
Adding New Attachments:
When placing a new attachment, your custom types appear in the selection list
Simply choose your saved custom type instead of typing it again
Quick Selection:
Custom types may appear at the top of your list or in a dedicated section
Recently used custom types might be prioritized for faster access
Device-Specific Storage
What This Means:
Custom attachment types are stored locally on your phone
Each team member must create their own saved types
Switching devices means recreating your custom library
The actual attachment names in your project data are visible to everyone
Best Practice for Teams:
Share a list of standard custom names with your team
Have each person create the same saved types on their device
Document naming conventions in a shared location
Maintain consistency even though libraries aren't synced
Need Organization-Wide Custom Types?
If your team frequently uses the same custom attachment types, consider requesting a permanent addition to your job configurations:
π Contact your account administrator to request adding custom attachment types to your organization's standard job configuration
β Benefits of configuration-level custom types:
Available to all team members automatically
No need to recreate on each device
Ensures consistency across all projects
Survives app updates and device changes
Your admin can work with support to add these as permanent selection options for your entire organization.
