Most of the sync hiccups and crashes you might hit have already been fixed in a newer build, so staying on the latest version of UtilityScout is the single easiest way to avoid trouble in the field. The app helps you do that on its own. When a newer build is available on the App Store, UtilityScout shows an alert titled "Update Available" that names the new version and the one you are currently using, with two buttons: Update and Later. Update takes you straight to the App Store to install the new build. Later just dismisses the alert, and the app will remind you again the next time it checks.
If you want to see which version you are on right now, open Settings and scroll down. The app name and its version number are shown near the bottom, just above the Log Out button.
A quick note if the update never seems to appear, or the App Store will not let you install it: some phones and tablets are managed by a company's IT team, and a managed device can be set up to block App Store updates. If you cannot update on your own, that is usually why; ask whoever handles your work device to push the update for you.
This ties directly into Getting help and reporting a problem: when a sync or crash problem tells you to confirm you are on the latest version, this is how you check it and how you fix it.
