The sidebar
The sidebar is the frame every portal screen shares. It stays with you wherever you go, so it is the main way you move between areas of the portal. From top to bottom it has three parts:
Top: a switcher for your organization, and your team if you belong to more than one.
Middle: the links to the different parts of the portal.
Bottom: your own profile menu and Support Bubble
Switching organization and team
If you belong to more than one organization, the switcher at the top matters more than it first appears.
Switching organization re-scopes what the portal shows you. Your jobs, data objects, and maps all change to match the organization you picked. If a job or map you expected is not there, check whether you are in the right organization first.
Switching team is different. For most users it does not change which jobs or maps you see, since those are shared across the whole organization. Teams mainly matter for how members are managed.
When a screen or job is missing
If you cannot find a screen or some jobs, it is almost always one of two things, not a bug:
You are in the wrong organization. Switch to the right one using the switcher at the top of the sidebar.
Your role does not include that area. Not every user sees the same links. For example, the Data group, which holds Objects, Files, and the Utility Map, is only shown to certain roles, so a user without one of those roles will not see it.
Note: Role-based menus control what you see, not what is secure. Hiding a link keeps your menu relevant to your role; it is not a hard security wall, and it is working as designed.
Check your organization first, then confirm your role covers what you are looking for. If it is still missing, ask your Org Admin. For which roles unlock which areas, see the roles table in the roles and permissions appendix. Admins can find more on adjusting access in Getting help and reporting a problem.
